James Blumenthal, an associate professor in the School of History, Philosophy and Religion, died Oct. 8 from complications after a long struggle with cancer. He was 47.
Blumenthal received his PhD in 1999 in the Department of South Asian Studies at UW-Madison under the direction of Geshe Sopa and Professor David Knipe. Jim was an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Oregon State University. A gathering of his friends will come together in Madison during the Annual Conference on South Asia, to share their memories of Jim.
