Symposium on The Delhi Gang Rape Case of December 2012
Please come and join Professor Emerita Sylvia Vatuk (Anthropology, University of Illinois at Chicago), Professor Sana Aiyar (History, UW-Madison) and Dr Lalita du Perron (Center for South Asia, UW-Madison) for a group discussion of the events fol-lowing the rape and death of “Nirbhaya” in Delhi in December 2012. Items to discuss include (but are not restricted to) the way the case was portrayed in the press, the nature of the protests in Delhi, politicians’ responses to the case, and the discourse on death penalty, ‘justice’ and governance that emerged.
