Hindi instructor Zara Chowdhary (Department of Asian Languages and Cultures) recently signed a book deal with Crown Publishing and Penguin Random House for her political memoir The Lucky Ones. Chowdhary will be working with senior editor Madhulika Sikka over the next year and the book is slated for release in Fall 2024. Zara Chowdhary has an MFA in Creative Writing & the Environment, (Iowa State University) and an MA is Writing for Performance (University of Leeds), and at UW-Madison teaches Hindi language courses as well as topics courses in South Asian Hindi-Urdu poetry and Bollywood.
