IB Examiner for Urdu Language Acquisition – Part-time Opportunity
Founded in 1968, the International Baccalaureate® (IB) is a non-profit educational foundation offering four highly respected programs of international education that develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills needed to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. As part of assessment processes, the IB works with educators in a variety of different roles.
Applicants must have: 1) a degree or equivalent in the subject (or a related subject) for which they are applying, 2) a minimum of one year’s experience teaching the subject (or a related subject) to students in an appropriate age range 11 to 16 years of age – Middle Years Program. Applicants who are no longer teaching must have taught or examined within the last three years, 3) access to the internet, via a broadband (or faster) connection, in an environment that is suitable for marking confidential assessment material. IB teaching experience is not essential.

Doctoral Research Fellowship focusing on religious festivals in Asia
A Doctoral Research Fellowship (SKO 1017) focusing on religious festivals in Asia is available at the Department of Culture Studies and Oriental Languages, University of Oslo. The research initiative “Religious festivals in Asia” focuses on dynamics of change in religious festivals in East-, South-, and Southeast-Asia from a comparative perspective. Applicants are invited to develop a PhD-project within the framework of this initiative on “Religious festivals in Asia”, limited to candidates working on festivals in India, Japan, Tibet, or Vietnam. The project description must be submitted as part of the application.

Tenure-Track Position in Hindu Studies, Harvard Divinity School
Harvard Divinity School seeks to make a full-time, tenure-track appointment with the rank of assistant professor in Hindu Studies, within the context of the religions of South Asia; and/or Hindu traditions as a global or transnational religion; and/or diasporic Hindu traditions, including Hindu traditions in North America. The foci of applicants’ work may be in any region or time period; research languages, disciplinary and methodological engagements are also open. The search is thus open to a variety of approaches to the field, including the interpretation of texts and commentaries, ritual studies, philosophical and theological studies, the historical study of religion, ethnographic studies, representations of Hindu traditions in film and other media, in South Asia or the global diaspora. Assistant Professor, Sanskrit Studies, University of California Berkeley

Assistant Professor in Asian American Studies, Williams College
The American Studies Program at Williams College seeks to make a tenure-track appointment in Asian American Studies, to start July 1, 2022, at the rank of Assistant Professor. The program seeks to complement and expand the expertise of existing faculty who teach Asian American topics, at a time when the College is working towards building an Asian American Studies program. The Carter Center has announced two new positions on US-India policy and human rights.
This is the first time we’re seeing a US organization at this level create positions on human rights in India. The Carter Center’s Human Rights Program is establishing a new initiative, called I-Policy (India Policy), with the objective to surface evidence, perspectives, and dialogue on civil liberties, freedom of press, and rule of law in India among a specialized audience in the United States. The Human Rights Program is seeking a consultant to serve as the inaugural lead for this project. The consultant will be called Chief Strategy Officer. She/he/they will meet key decision makers to educate them and manage the initiative’s website, reporting on developments in the Indian democracy. She/he/they will commission and publish blog pieces, policy analysis, and white papers, and will host and/or foment conversations (online and in-person) to educate on human rights and Indian democracy. This position will report to the Director of the Human Rights Program at The Carter Center. This position is on a consultancy basis for a duration of 12 months with the possibility of renewal. Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology-Environment Justice Health, Syracuse University
The Anthropology Department in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor of cultural anthropology. We are looking for expertise in environmental concerns and environmental justice; energy and infrastructure; extraction of natural resources; health, technology and medicine; and multispecies relations. We would like to emphasize the health and medical anthropology aspects of this search to support the minor and to engage with other health researchers in the school. Part-time Telugu Instructor, Winter-Spring Quarters 2022, University of Washington
The Department of Asian Languages and Literature, University of Washington, Seattle, invites applications for a part-time, temporary lecturer to teach one course, most likely, ‘Elementary Telugu’ in Winter Quarter (January–March 2022) and a second course, most likely in continuation of the Elementary Telugu sequence, in Spring Quarter (March–June 2022). Teaching duties will be carried out remotely and, therefore, will not require physical presence in the Seattle area. Assistant or Associate Professor in South Asian Religions, Emory University

The Department of Religion at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, invites applications for a full-time assistant or associate professor in South Asian Religions to begin Fall 2022. The ideal candidate will specialize in premodern Hinduism and possess strong facility with Sanskrit texts. We seek a scholar deeply conversant with the field of Hindu studies in close conversation with the study of religion. Areas of particular interest include premodern Hindu narrative, philosophy, ritual, art, performance, and law. The successful candidate will have a proven record of research and teaching excellence and should be prepared to teach a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses in Hinduism and South Asian religions. Assistant Professor, Asian Religions, Missouri State University
The Department of Religious Studies is searching for a scholar of Asian Religions to fill a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor, to begin in August 2022. The successful candidate must be able to teach courses at the undergraduate and master’s level in Asian religions, including Islam, and the department’s world religions survey course. Assistant Professor, South Asian History, Claremont McKenna College
The History Department at Claremont McKenna College invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professorship in South Asian history, period and research specialization open. The department is particularly interested in scholars whose research and teaching interests situate South Asian history within a larger regional and global context. Assistant Professor in South Asian History, Davidson College
The History Department at Davidson College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in South Asian History beginning July 1, 2022.
