Zara Chowdhary is a multilingual writer and instructor with an MA (Writing for Performance) from the University of Leeds and an MFA (Creative Writing and Environment) from Iowa State University. She has previously worked as a copywriter and assistant director, run a digital film production studio, and was one of six storytellers in a writers’ room for the Indian movie studio Eros International.

Her more recent work has focused on sci-fi and speculative literature, Holocaust writing and imagery, and theatre direction. She won the Pearl Hogrefe Award in Creative Nonfiction (2019), the MVICW Fellowship for Parent-Writers (2018), and in 2019, she worked with Turner Classic Movies in original production to write and produce documentaries for on-air broadcast.

The languages she enjoys working with are Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, and French.
