William Cocke, graduate student in Mathematics and FLAS recipient in Hindi and Urdu, traveled to Delhi last year with support from the Center for South Asia Travel Award. Cocke’s trip included time at Ambedkar University, working with Professor Geetha Venkataraman. Cocke also lectured, visited classes, and spent time meeting with graduate students at Ambedkar as they initiate their first class of graduate students in mathematics. The paper that resulted from his work in Delhi, “On the number of elements of maximal order in a group” will be published later this year in The American Mathematical Monthly.
