Library Collections Enhancement Award for South Asian Film and Media Collection

Funded under the Library Collections Enhancement Award by OVRGE, “South Asian Film and Media Collection” aims to build a research program on South Asian Cinema at UW-Madison by expanding the film studies collection. The proposed procurement includes trade magazines, film scripts, song-booklets, posters, and film-related ephemera to think critically about how South Asian cinema has been built around a history of absence and to account for informal forms of media circulation that defy the collecting logics of State-sponsored archives. Darshana Mini and Todd Michelson-Ambelang serve as CO-PIs of the project, and Anirban Baishya and Mou Banerjee serve as investigators.
