The Center for South Asia is pleased to welcome incoming Assistant Director Andrea Fowler on December 1st. Andrea Fowler has served the Center as office manager since 2017, coordinating events and communications across a variety of Center programs. In her new role as Assistant Director, she will oversee the Annual Conference on South Asia and coordinate outreach programming. Andrea is a PhD candidate in musicology at the Mead-Witter School of Music and continues her research on race in the music of American composer Julius Eastman. In addition to her research, Andrea also serves as an instructor for the annual Summer Music Clinic at UW-Madison. Her activities as a public musicologist in Madison include collaborative public outreach concerts with Sound Out Loud and Madison Public Philosophy, lecturing at the inaugural LunART Women’s Music Festival, and giving pre-concert talks for the Memorial Union.
