Former FLAS recipient Samantha Helle publishes a children’s book

We are delighted to share that Samantha Helle, a former Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) recipient and Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has recently published a children’s book inspired by her research experience in Nepal. The book , titled “Tiger: A First Field Guide to the Big Cat with the Stripes,” is part of the Young Zoologist series by Neon Squid, which aims to ignite a passion for biology and conservation among young readers. During her DDRA research in Nepal from 2021–22, Helle’s work focused on community-based tiger monitoring between the country’s protected areas. This unique fieldwork became the foundation for her book, providing an engaging and educational insight into the life of tigers and the importance of their conservation.
