The Center for South Asia is proud to announce that Prof. Darshana Mini, Assistant Professor and CSA faculty member in the Department of Communication Arts at UW-Madison, has been awarded the Top Faculty Paper Award by the Global Communication and Social Change (GCSC) Division of the International Communication Association (ICA) to be awarded in its June 2025 conference.
Her paper, titled “‘S’ Certification and Sex-Education Films in India: Archiving Slippages Between State Narratives and Pirate Histories,” was recognized for its critical exploration of censorship, state narratives, and alternative media practices in India.
This award celebrates Prof. Mini’s contribution to the field of global communication and affirms the strength of her scholarship at the intersection of media, culture, and social change.
