The Center for South Asia was proud to co-sponsor “AI and Society: Community Impacts and New Directions,” a two-day workshop hosted by UW–Madison’s IRIS centers at the Madison Concourse Hotel. Bringing together over 55 educators, business leaders, and community partners, the event explored the far-reaching implications of artificial intelligence—from education and journalism to environmental resilience and global business. Sessions sparked lively conversation around the ethical use of AI, strategies for teaching with emerging technologies, and the role of human-centered design in shaping the future. As part of the Wisconsin RISE Initiative, the workshop reaffirmed UW–Madison’s commitment to fostering responsible and inclusive innovation.
